American Legion Harvey T. Rimel Post 141 has served Glenwood veterans, families, and the community for generations. As we look ahead, we are beginning to explore practical facility improvements that will help our Post remain useful, welcoming, and sustainable for years to come.
Our goal is simple: improve function, accessibility, and revenue potential while preserving the history and purpose of the Post.
One of the first areas we are reviewing is the front of the building. Removing the old curtains, cleaning the front windows, and adding a professional frosted window treatment would make a major difference in how the Post looks from the street. This simple improvement would help the building feel cleaner, brighter, and more open while still maintaining privacy inside the hall.
We are also looking closely at the tables, chairs, and storage system in the main hall. Our current furniture has served the Post for many years, but it is heavy, difficult to move, and challenging for many of our volunteers. Lightweight tables, matching stacking chairs, and rolling storage carts would make setup and cleanup easier for meetings, dinners, weddings, craft fairs, and community events.
These upgrades are not about changing who we are. They are about making sure our building continues to support the work we do.
A more organized and functional hall helps our members. It helps our volunteers. It helps our rental customers. It also helps Post 141 continue serving as a gathering place for veterans, families, and the Glenwood community.
This planning process is still in the early stages, and future improvements will depend on member discussion, available funding, volunteer support, and project priorities. We are committed to moving forward thoughtfully and responsibly.
Post 141 has a proud history. With practical updates and strong community support, we can help make sure it has a strong future, too.
